Go On Girls Alaskan Cruise

May 22 - May 29, 2015

Next year the Go On Girls Annual Awards Weekend will be held in Seattle, Washington.  If you are a member I have a great idea.  Why not take an Alaska Cruise which ends in Seattle on Friday, May 29, 2015 just in time to begin your Go On Girls Celebration.

Your cruise leaves from Vancouver, B.C. Canada on Friday, May 22, 2015.  Sail the natural beauty of Alaska and experience nature in a way you have never imagined.  No journey stays with you, mind and soul, like an expedition through Alaska. From the blue ice of massive glacial fields to the stunning grandeur of the scenery and wildlife, everything in Alaska is big, bold and absolutely breathtaking.

On board, you will be seated with other members of Go On Girls.  You may not know them since they could be from another of your 30 chapters all around the country.  It will be so much fun to spend a whole week meeting other GOG members all heading to Seattle for the big weekend. And also the GOG Awards weekend is open to the public, so you may want to join the fun in Seattle - you will be welcome. Their website is www.goongirl.org.

By the way, husbands and significant others will enjoy this cruise, man in nature and all of that.  You will both enjoy the cruise on the Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas.  The below prices include your lovely stateroom, nightly entertainment, including those Las Vegas style shows, the casino and at least three meals a day, sometimes more, and the company of Go On Girls from all over the country.

The icing on the cake is that the prices are so reasonable and by booking with Aviva Travel Group, you only need to send your deposit now and make additional payments as you like, each month or every now and then.  Most people pay the deposit and then divide the balance into three painless payments.

Here are the prices for the Alaska Cruise next year:
Balcony Staterooms        $1,533.00
Oceanview Staterooms   $1,376.00
Interior Staterooms        $   986.99

The deposit is $250 per person/ $500 per stateroom and locks in your price is due no later than November 15, 2014.  The balance for this group trip is due March 8, 2015.

The prices include the cruise and cruise taxes.  They do not include airfare or cancellation insurance.  Contact Ruth for your round trip airfare from your home airport that is offered by Royal Caribbean.  Email her at literarysisters@aol.com.

Most of you are traveling a bit to get to Seattle; I think making it a vacation that begins in Vancouver on a luxury cruise ship is a very good idea.  I hope you agree.  Complete the Registration Form today.

Sailing Itinerary

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Most recently ranked by The Economist as the number one most liveable city in the world, Vancouver is a picturesque city surrounded by the waters of the Pacific Ocean and the snow capped peaks of the Coast Mountain range. Vancouver is Canada's third largest city with many unique neighbourhoods to explore including Gastown, Yaletown, Chinatown and the West End. Alaska Inside Passage
May 24, 2015

Millions of years ago, southbound glaciers carved out the Inside Passage, leaving majestic fjords, islands and bays in their wake. Today, the spectacular views will leave a lasting impression on you. From the lush greenery of Tongass National Forest - the world's largest and northernmost temperate coastal rainforest - to the brilliant blue glaciers, you'll see jaw-dropping beauty everywhere you look.

The incredible landscape of the Inside Passage is home to diverse wildlife - orca, mountain goats, bald eagles, bears, puffins, sea otters and more - but the superstars of the area are the gentle giants who feed here every summer. Look out for the awesome acrobatics of breaching humpback whales. You'll never forget the sight of these 40-ton beasts hurling themselves into the air, almost completely escaping the water.

Juneau, Alaska
May 24, 2015

Juneau, the capital of Alaska, was founded during a gold rush in 1880. Today, the former gold-mining town counts among its riches some of Alaska's most spectacular scenery. Nestled at the foot of Mt. Juneau in the Alaska Panhandle, it faces the water from the mainland side of Gastineau Channel. Several magnificent fjords are located along the channel coast, and the majestic Mendenhall Glacier, a favorite of visitors, is nearby.

When you're in Juneau, you shouldn't miss the amazing glacial landscape. The best view available is from the seat of a helicopter on one of our shore excursions, where you can watch for bear, mountain goats, and moose. Then, once you've landed, we'll take you on a once-in-a-lifetime dogsled ride.

Skagway, Alaska
May 25, 2015

When gold was discovered in the Klondike region of the Yukon Territory (just across the border from Alaska), it resulted in the historic Gold Rush of 1898. As thousands of gold-crazed adventurers sought the best starting point for their arduous trek, they found the deepest penetration possible by boat was at the northern tip of the Lynn Canal. This is how Skagway was born.

Take the unforgettable journey aboard the "Scenic Railway of the World" and travel 20 miles from tidewater to the summit of the White Pass - a 2,865 foot elevation. Ride in vintage rail cars as you retrace the original route to the White Pass summit. This fully narrated tour features panoramas of mountains, gorges, waterfalls, tunnels, trestles and historic sites. See the original Klondike Trail of '98 worn into the rocks, a permanent tribute to the thousands of souls that passed this route in seek of fortune.

Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska
May 26, 2014

Nestled between 3,000-foot high granite walls, the narrow, twisting slice of ocean called Tracy Arm Fjord weaves through the Tongass National Forest for roughly 35 miles. The shoreline is spotted with waterfalls created by melting snowcaps and trees sprouting at odd angles from rocky outcroppings. You will have ample time to admire the landscape and perhaps catch sight of a few native animals as you cruise through this port.

The Sawyer Glaciers at the end of Tracy Arm may not be the most famous glaciers in Alaska, but many visitors find them to be the most dramatic. Framed by mountains on either side, the glaciers are often bathed in a light mist that amplifies the blue hue of the ice.

Victoria, British Columbia
May 28, 2015

Located on the southern tip on the island of Vancouver in British Columbia, the city of Victoria is probably best known for its mild climate and active outdoor lifestyle. (In fact, the city has been named the "fittest city" in Canada more than once.) As the capital of British Columbia, the city is very tourist-friendly. Among the many attractions are world-famous gardens, its 150 years of British history, gourmet dining and fantastic shopping.

Seattle, Washington
May 29, 2015

Seattle is often characterized by its laid-back attitude and rainy climate, but this thriving metropolis also offers one-of-a-kind architecture, the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges, and a unique urban sophistication.
