National Black Theatre Festival
August 3-8, 2015
Our Literary Sisters Theatre Party for 2014 was in New York, we went to see Denzel Washington in a revival of A Raisin in the Sun.
For 2015 we are off to Winston-Salem , NC to join the amazing theatrical experience that is the National Black Theatre Festival. It only happens every other year. The Festival transforms Winston-Salem into a mega-performing arts centre with over 100 performances in a number of the city venues. Theatre workshops, films, seminars, a teen poetry slam and a star-studded celebrity gala all work together to accomplish the goal of making the National Black Theatre Festival one of the best theater festivals in the country.
The history of celebrity appearances and performances at the National Black Theatre Festival is not only impressive, but also extensive. Visitors can expect to see a number of familiar faces as well as up-and-coming amateurs to the big stage. Each phenomenal festival saturates the city with thousands of theatre goers and theatre professionals from all around the globe into their heavily art-inspired city.
