Join the Literary Sisters for a wonderful trip through the charming and historic cities of Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC. The dates are March 20 -26, 2017. Our group trip includes hotels stays at beautifully appointed hotels in both cities, most meals and sightseeing by bus. We will travel by AMTRAK train between Savannah and Charleston.
Our Southern Journey will also feature a Literary Salon with two fine authors, Sadeqa Johnson and Gregory Morris. Sadeqa Johnson is author of Second House From the Corner; Gregory Morris is author of HNIC. Their photos and books are below.

Savannah GA
We begin our journey together in Savannah, GA. We will be staying at the Savannah Hyatt Regency located on River Street right beside the Savannah River. Our hotel places us within walking distance of lots of shopping and restaurants.
Enjoy Savannah on your own today. Our first group event will be dinner at the Hyatt Regency Monday night.

Savannah
Tuesday after breakfast we will devote the day to Sightseeing in Savannah. Our bus will leave from the Hyatt Regency in the morning and return in the late afternoon. We will be taking the Johnnie Brown Freedom Train Tour [photo at right: one of the stops on the tour]. We will stop for a Low Country Lunch before returning to our hotel.

Savannah
Wednesday after breakfast we travel to understand and learn more about the Gullah culture [photo at left: Mary Parker House]. Our bus will leave in the morning for this half day tour.
You have time to yourself this afternoon and then we meet in the hotel lobby at 7:00 PM to leave for our group dinner out at our favorite Soul Food Restaurant before leaving Savannah.

Savannah-Charleston
We leave the Hyatt early to make our 8:00 AM train to Charleston, SC. We enjoy traveling through the South by train. In Charleston, I will have transportation arranged from AMTRAK to our hotel, Embassy Suites in the Historic District.
After settling into your lovely suite at Embassy Suites you have time on your own in the Historic District. Our first group event will be dinner at the Embassy Suites.

Charleston
After breakfast, we meet at our Sightseeing bus for a full day of experiencing Black history in Charleston with our knowledgeable Guide. Our tour will include Plantation Tours and more. [Photo at left: preserved slave cabins at a plantation.] We stop for a delicious low country lunch before returning to our hotel in the late afternoon.

Charleston
On Saturday, after breakfast we will have a half day of local sightseeing. You will then have the afternoon to yourself. We gather in the lobby to take the bus to the famous Magnolia's Restaurant for dinner.

Charleston
After breakfast we head home having been enriched by the experiences we have shared with one another.
