A Literary Retreat in Washington DC

November 6-9, 2014

We love to travel.  We enjoy checking into a new city to explore.  We wonder about the history of black people in Savannah and enjoy time for some sightseeing.

This weekend is designed to be relaxing and at the same time stimulating. I think a weekend away is refreshing. It gives you a change of pace. The Washington DC Literary Retreat will include meals, sightseeing, music, conversation and some "me" time. It really will be a perfect weekend.

I am always amazed how we fill up every moment of our lives. We rush from one responsibility to another. Sometimes, I think we just need a break. Let someone else prepare our meals, make our beds and do the driving. We can leave that alone for just a weekend.

Sightseeing - Friday, November 7

We will board a coach bus for the day to tour of some of Washington DC's best known monuments, with a stop for lunch at a lovely Georgetown restaurant.  Some of our stops include:

- African American Civil War Memorial and Museum (at left)
- Lincoln Memorial
- Jefferson Memorial
- Frederick Douglass Visitor's Center
- Vietnam War Memorial
- Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial

Saturday, November 8 - Author Showcase

Three distinguished authors will be on hand for a time of lively discussion and to sign their books for you.  The authors are Beverly Jenkins, Sadeqa Johnson, Alicia Singleton, and Gregory Morris.

Saturday, November 8
Dining Out

We will meet in the lobby on Saturday evening to dine out at a Georgetown restaurant.
