Classic Cultural Tour of Cuba

Our country has greatly improved our relationship with the lovely island of Cuba. So tourists are flocking to Cuba to rediscover Cuban music, dance, art and some wonderful food.

Day 1, Hometown/Havana
December 2, 2017

Following breakfast at your hotel on your second day, you will border a charter flight to Havana. After you clear immigration and customs, your InsightCuba leader and Cuban guide will accompany you to your hotel in the heart of Havana. Get your first taste of Cuba with an afternoon orientation.

Day 2, Havana
December 3, 2017

Start your day by meeting an expert in Cuban architecture, who will discuss Old Havana's rich architectural heritage and UNESCO designation. After lunch, you'll visit an incredible organization to learn about Afro-Cuban art, music, and dance. Later, meet with university students and professionals for candid discussions about daily life in Cuba, before visiting an artist in his studio. You'll end the day with dinner at La Floridita, one of Hemingway's favorite spots for drinking daiquiris.

Day 3, Havana
December 4, 2017

Today you'll visit a local historian at the Colon Cemetary. Then, meet with an internationally recognized dance group for backstage access to dress rehearsal. After lunch, you'll have a riveting meeting at the Literacy Museum about a historic moment in Cuban history when the island's youth mobilized across the country to teach rural inhabitants how to read. Later in the day, you'll have the special privilege of meeting performers from La Colmenita, a children's touring group that performs locally and internationally. In 2012, they performed at the United Nations.

Day 4, Havana
December 5, 2017

This morning, you'll visit a local farmer's market, where you'll experience firsthand Cuba's dual currency at work. Before lunching at a local palador in Old Havana, you'll meet with an organization that teaches trade skills for the new economy. After lunch, you'll meet with an art specialist for an insightful tour of the Museum of Fine Arts. Tonight, dine on your own at a paladar, a private, family-owned restaurant. Your tour leader, a dining scene expert, can make outstanding recommendations.

Day 5, Havana/Playa Larga/Cienfuegos
December 6, 2017

Today you'll leave Havana for Playa Larga, where you'll visit Korimacao Community Project, a respected school of the arts, known for developing musicians, dancers, poets and actors. From Playa Larga, you'll continue your journey to the charming island town of Cienfuegos.

Day 6, Cienfuegos/Trinidad
December 7, 2017

We'll stop at the Museum of Architecture to learn about Trinidad's architectural and historic preservation and UNESCO designation. Afterward, meet a renowned local artist and learn all about their craft.

After lunch you'll have an exclusive visit with singers, dancers, and musicians that help define this country. Then you'll have an exclusive visit with our friends in their homes for a taste of Cuban hospitality, warmth, and a chance to get to know them surrounded by their families and community. Later, you'll visit a casa particular, a bed-and-breakfast-like accommodation in a private home. Tonight, dine on your own at a paladar, a private, family-owned restaurant. Your tour leader can make outstanding suggestions.

Day 7, Cienfuegos/Havana
December 8, 2017

This morning, you'll visit a cooperative artist center. Next, you'll meet the singers and artistic director from the internationally acclaimed Coro del Cienfuegos. After lunch, you'll travel back to Havana. In the evening, share your stories over a farewell dinner.

After breakfast, bid farewell to Cuba as you board your flight home.

Pricing

The cost of the trip is $5,395 double per person, not including airfare.

The single rate is $6,095, not including airfare.

Deposit is $500.

Airfare is $645. It includes roundtrip airfare from Miami to Havana, Cuban Visa, and baggage for the first bag.

Please Note: Participation for this trip is limited to 16 people due to regulations beyond my control. So while there is no due date, the trip Attendees will be the first 16 people to register with their deposits. I am going on this trip, so I mean the first 15 people.
